MAC Scheduler
**MAC Scheduler** now includes enhanced **simulator support**, enabling controlled testing of end-to-end recovery flows driven by **Merchant Advice Codes**.
Merchants can simulate multiple **“retry later” declines**, dynamic plan adjustments, and **final recovery**, allowing clear visibility into how retries are scheduled and completed.
This helps validate and better understand how **MAC Scheduler** adapts retry strategies in practice. Further details are available in the **[MAC Scheduler documentation](/integrations/mac-control/mac-scheduler)**.
eCommerce
MAC Scheduler
**MAC Scheduler** now enriches the **original transaction** with the complete **retry history**, providing a unified view of the recovery lifecycle.
Each retry and its outcome are appended, along with the dynamically updated **nextAttemptAt**, enabling clear tracking of recovery progress and upcoming retries.
Once recovery completes or the retry plan ends, this forward-looking indicator is removed, leaving a finalized transaction history. This information is available in **responses**, **queries**, and **webhooks**, supporting monitoring in **MIT** and **subscription scenarios**.
eCommerce
MAC Scheduler
**MAC Scheduler** now updates the **scheduling transaction** with a complete **retry history**, providing an evolving view of the recovery lifecycle.
Each retry is appended under **processingDetails.macScheduler**, including the **result**, **MAC code** (if applicable), and **timestamp**, enabling clear tracking of all attempts and the latest outcome.
This information is available in **responses**, **queries**, and **webhooks**, supporting monitoring and troubleshooting. It is particularly valuable for **MIT (merchant-initiated transactions)** and **subscription scenarios**, helping determine when recovery is complete and fulfillment can proceed.
eCommerce
MAC Scheduler
**MAC Scheduler** now supports **dynamic recovery plans** that automatically adjust based on updated **issuer guidance**.
When a retry returns a different **"retry later" MAC code**, the scheduler reschedules the next attempt with updated timing, allowing the plan to evolve within the recovery window.
This ensures retries stay aligned with the latest issuer recommendation, improving recovery outcomes while maintaining compliance. The retry plan ends automatically when the payment succeeds, issuer guidance stops retries, or the maximum number of attempts is reached, supporting controlled recovery for **MIT (merchant-initiated transactions)** and **subscription scenarios**.
eCommerce
MAC Scheduler
We are introducing **MAC Scheduler**, a new capability that helps automatically recover declined transactions based on **Merchant Advice Codes (MAC)**.
Instead of retrying declined payments blindly, MAC Scheduler creates a recovery plan and schedules follow-up attempts based on **issuer guidance**, helping improve recovery outcomes while reducing unnecessary retries.
To support full visibility from the start, each retry includes lineage to the **original declined transaction**, the **scheduling transaction**, and the **next planned attempt**, exposed via **processingDetails.macScheduler** (**originalTxId**, **scheduledTxId**, **nextAttemptAt**).
This context is available in **responses**, **APIs**, and **webhooks**, enabling merchants to track retry progression across the recovery lifecycle. This is especially valuable for **MIT (merchant-initiated transactions)** and **subscription scenarios**.
**Data fields:**
- **processingDetails.macScheduler.originalTxId** — declined transaction
- **processingDetails.macScheduler.scheduledTxId** — retry plan transaction
- **processingDetails.macScheduler.nextAttemptAt** — next retry timestamp
**Fully backward-compatible** with existing retry mechanisms.

Fraud Management
Because fraud management is mission-critical to payments, we’ve enabled additional data fields in our **Merchant Fraud Management** to support more versatile risk rules and strengthen fraud prevention and tracking.
**Our new ruleable fields:**
- **Payment Type** — classifies the transaction (e.g., purchase, refund, reversal) to target rules by flow.
- **Clearing Institute** — identifies the clearing/settlement entity used for the transaction.
- **3D Secure Exemption Flag** — indicates whether an SCA/3‑D Secure exemption was applied.
- **Acquirer Response Information** — provides acquirer result codes/text for authorization outcomes.
- **Scheme Transaction ID** — card-scheme/network identifier for end‑to‑end transaction tracing.
- **Merchant- Advice Code (MAC)** — network guidance code for follow-up attempts or handling.
- **Merchant Reference** — merchant-supplied order/reference to align fraud decisions with business records.
- **Merchant Category** — merchant’s line of business to tailor risk by merchant type.
- **Transaction Category Code** — categorizes the transaction context (e.g., recurring) for rule scoping.
**Why it matters:** This allows to configure more targeted risk rules. For detailed information check the ACI Fraud Management Direct integration documentation.

Tokenization
We now return the **Payment Account Reference (PAR)** for **network-token** payments **when we act as the Token Service Provider (TSP)**. **PAR** is an EMVCo-defined, network-issued identifier that remains stable across card reissues and token lifecycles, enabling reliable recognition of returning shoppers without exposing PANs.
**What’s improved:**
- **PAR in API outputs:** par is now included in the **payment response, payment query, and payment webhook** payloads.
- **Coverage:** Applies to **network tokens** issued by our TSP, including **one-off payments, Registration, and Omni merchant tokens**.
- **Scope clarification: TSP-only**. If you use your **own TSP** and the platform only processes the payment, **PAR is not returned**.
**Why it matters:** PAR provides a **stable, network-level shopper identifier** that persists as payment credentials change. This supports **loyalty programs, repeat‑customer experiences, and customer analytics** — while minimizing exposure to sensitive card data.
eCommerce
Token Import

Tokenization
Open Payment Platform now **auto-refreshes network tokens** in **Token Vault** whenever a token returns to **ACTIVE** after being **SUSPENDED** (e.g., following expiration or a token reissue/change). Updated **DPAN network tokens** are made available immediately for **Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MITs)** so subsequent **payments can continue seamlessly and without manual updates**.
eCommerce
Tokenization
Cryptogram handling is now fully optimized for **Omni Token** customers using network tokens with our next-generation **Token Vault**. For **Customer-Initiated Transactions (CIT)**, we always send the **DPAN** plus a cryptogram. For **Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MIT)**, we use the **DPAN only** when it’s available to avoid unnecessary cryptogram requests.
If the **DPAN is missing**, we automatically retrieve **both the DPAN and a cryptogram** to ensure compliance and seamless processing.
This enhancement applies only to Omni Token customers. Customers using registration and network tokens are already optimized and remain unchanged.

Payment Providers
We’ve upgraded our integration with the **Concardis** acquirer to align with scheme-level capabilities for flagging authorization requests as Pre-Authorization or Final Authorization.
**When to use which:**
- **Pre-Authorization** - use when the final capture amount isn’t known yet. The authorized amount can be adjusted (increased or decreased) before settlement.
- **Final Authorization** — use when the amount is confirmed and will be captured in full. Once flagged as final, the authorized amount is fixed and cannot be changed.
**How to set the authorization type:**
- In the **Merchant Account settings**, choose your **Authorization Type**; or
- Include `customParameters[authorization_type]` in the payment request. This **overrides** the account-level setting.
If no specific setting is provided, authorizations **default to Pre-Authorization**.

We’ve updated our **Visa Platform Connect (VPC)** integration and introduced a **Merchant Account setting**, _Enable AFT Feature_, to control **Account Funding Transactions (AFT)**. This toggle can be set to **True** or **False (default: False)**. When _Enable AFT Feature_ is **True**, the integration includes the relevant AFT fields. The Integration sheet has been updated to show the corresponding field mappings for cases where this setting is enabled.
eCommerce
Payment Providers
We have enhanced several parts of our **MPGS (Mastercard Payment Gateway Services)** integration to improve how you run **AFT (Account Funding Transactions)** alongside standard processing.
**What's New**
- **Stay current with MPGS v100** – Our integration now supports **additional AFT-related fields** aligned with **MPGS v100** enhancements, helping ensure compatibility and clean hand-offs to the gateway.
- **Identify partner traffic from Open Payment Platform** – In _Processing settings_, we added an optional configuration, _Set MPGS Partner Solution ID_, which populates the `PartnerSolutionID` sent to MPGS so the gateway can correctly identify the partner through which traffic is routed. **This value can be set or changed by Support upon request**.
- **Control AFT at the merchant account level** – We introduced a **Merchant Account setting**, _Enable AFT Feature_, to control AFT (**True/False, default: False**). When _Enable AFT Feature_ is **True**, the integration includes the relevant AFT fields. The Integration sheet has been updated with the corresponding field mappings for cases where this setting is enabled.

MAC Control
We’ve enhanced **MAC Control** to give merchants greater flexibility in how retry decisions are applied for selected MAC codes (e.g., **MAC02, MAC21, MAC24–MAC30**). Merchants can choose between two matching modes to align with their business flows, including scenarios where order IDs may change between attempts:
- **Strict match (default)**: blocks retries only when **account, amount, currency, and merchant transaction ID all match**.
- **Moderate match**: blocks retries when **account, amount, and currency match**, even if the merchant transaction ID changes.
This helps merchants adapt retry logic when order IDs change between attempts without weakening protection. **Existing configurations remain unchanged; Strict match remains the default unless you request Moderate match.**
**Availability:** this capability is part of MAC Control and **can be enabled upon commercial agreement**.
eCommerce
MAC Control
We continue to update **MAC Control** to make retry handling more transparent and easier to troubleshoot.
**What’s new:** when a retry is blocked due to issuer guidance (e.g., “retry after 72 hours” or “do not retry”), the payment artifacts now include the **original transaction ID** that triggered the rule — so **you can see why the retry was blocked and which transaction caused it**.
**Where you’ll see it:** the original reference is surfaced in the **payment response, payment query, and webhook payload** under _processingDetails.macControl.originalTxId_.
**Why it matters:** end-to-end traceability lets you quickly connect a blocked retry to the originating attempt, accelerate debugging, and provide clearer explanations in merchant support cases.
**Timing clarity:** we’ve also added an optional _retryAfterMinutes_ field. When a MAC includes a delay (e.g., “retry after 10 days”), this field shows exactly how much time remains before a retry may be accepted — reducing premature attempts and confusion.
**Data fields at a glance:**
- `processingDetails.macControl.originalTxId` — the transaction ID that triggered the MAC Control rule.
- `retryAfterMinutes` (optional) — remaining minutes until a retry may be accepted when issuer guidance includes a delay.
**Compatibility and rollout:** fully backward-compatible and **works seamlessly with network tokens, omni tokens, smart retries, SCA, and account updater**.
**Try it and learn more**: test the behavior in the [MAC Control Playground](/mac-control) and see implementation details in the [MAC Guide](/mac).
eCommerce
MAC Control
We continue to optimize **MAC Control** for speed and efficiency. **Retry-decision data** is now retained **only as long as necessary** to support matching of declined transactions during retry handling.
- **Automatic expiry:** MAC-related data is removed once its validity period ends.
- **Accurate matching, optimal performance:** Keeps retry-decision logic accurate while minimizing storage and lookup overhead.
- **No action required:** This process runs automatically — no configuration changes for merchants.
**Availability:** this capability is part of MAC Control and **can be enabled upon commercial agreement**.
eCommerce
MAC Control
We continue to expand **MAC Control** for clearer monitoring and reporting. Now, **MAC Control returns dedicated decline codes** when retry attempts are blocked based on MAC — so you can quickly see why a retry was prevented and what to do next.
- **Result codes grouped by recommendation:**
- `Retry after delay (700.600.xxx)` – indicates when you can safely retry (e.g., **MAC02** - 72 hours, **MAC24** - 1 hour).
- `Do not retry (700.601.xxx)` – indicates retries should not be attempted (e.g., **MAC03** - account closed or fraud suspected).
- **Status code: 76 (Rejected MAC)** with detailed reason codes for clarity.
- **No MAC match:** if no MAC match is found, **MAC Control logs the evaluation but does not create a transaction.**
**Availability:** this capability is part of MAC Control and **can be enabled upon commercial agreement**.

With MAC Control, retry attempts for transactions declined with specific MAC codes will be automatically blocked, helping you avoid unnecessary fees and improve compliance with issuer and scheme rules.
**Key Highlights**
- **Automatic blocking of retries** for declined authorizations where retrying is not recommended (e.g., MAC01, MAC03, MAC21, MAC22, MAC02, MAC24–30). Blocking applies when retry conditions match original transaction details and MAC expiry is valid.

Tokenization
In alignment with Visa and Mastercard’s goal to process every digital payment transaction with a network token, we are excited to announce **support for synchronous provisioning of network tokens.**
**Main Features**
- **Immediate Network Token Provisioning:** network token provisioning is now available synchronously, enabling immediate use in payments without waiting.
**Synchronous versus Asynchronous Provisioning:** token requestors can choose for **all transaction types**, including CIT (Customer Initiated Transactions), MIT (Merchant Initiated Transactions), and one-time payments, between:
- **Synchronous** (about 2–3 seconds): recommended when the shopper is present to avoid impacting the user experience with a short delay.
- **Asynchronous** (up to several minutes): ideal for immediate use in payments, especially for subsequent transactions.
**How to Configure**
Enable this feature in the Open Payment Platform, following the path _Administration > Processing > Network Tokenization > Provision network token (async/sync)_.
Default setting: Async.
eCommerce
Import Tool
The **Import Tool User Interface** now supports **authentication with username and password for external SFTP gateways**, providing greater flexibility for customers importing card data or tokens from providers that do not support SSH key-based authentication.
**How to configure:** access the following path _Administration > Tokens Import > SFTP Configuration > Authentication Type_ in your Open Payment Platform.
To maintain security standards, passwords must be GPG-encrypted using ACI Worldwide’s Credentials GPG Public Key before upload.
**Key Highlights:**
- New option to manually input SFTP username and upload an encrypted password.
- SSH key-based authentication remains the default and recommended method.
- Feature is gated via a configuration toggle for controlled rollout.

As of **October 2025**, **Visa and Mastercard** require refund transactions to be authorized. In line with this mandate, we have enabled **Online Refunds** for **Chase Stratus** and APACS acquirers **AIBMS** and **Global Payments**. Support for **Worldpay** and **Barclays** will follow soon.
Additionally, **Extended Terminal ID functionality** is now enabled across **all APACS integrations: Worldpay, Barclays, AIBMS, and Global Payments**.
**What’s New at a glance:**
- **Online Refunds are now supported for AIBMS and Global Payments** (Worldpay and Barclays coming next).
- **Extended Terminal ID is enabled across all APACS connectors: Worldpay, Barclays, AIBMS, and Global Payments**. Expect **higher transaction volumes per Terminal ID**, specifically driven by **Refund Authorization Requests**. The number of transactions that can be processed per second is tied to the number of Terminal IDs:
- **1 Terminal ID = 0.5 Transactions Per Second (TPS)**
- **10 Terminal IDs = 5 Transactions Per Second (TPS)**
**Call to Action**
- **If you process more than 0.5 TPS or handle transactions in batches, ensure your Terminal ID setup supports your expected volume**. If not already done, we recommend increasing the number of Terminal IDs as soon as possible to avoid disruptions.
- **Ensure the setting for online refund processing is enabled:** in Open Payment Platform check the setting in the configuration field _Administration > Processing Settings > Send refunds as online messages_. Failing to do this will force acquirers to relay non-compliance fees on to the merchants!

We have extended our integration to **PXP Kalixa** to support **two key features**:
- **Zero Amount Authorization:** Merchants can now initiate account verification transactions using a zero amount, enabling smoother onboarding and card validation flows.
- **Google Pay and Apple Pay Support:** The connector now supports Google Pay and Apple Pay transactions, allowing merchants to offer more flexible and secure payment options to their customers.
These updates help improve payment versatility and streamline the customer experience across supported channels.

**Key Benefits**
- **Smarter Transaction Handling:** Clearer insights into decline reasons enable more effective payment management.
- **Better Decision-Making:** Informed resubmission strategies can help improve transaction success rates.
- **Operational Efficiency:** Actionable data supports smoother workflows and enhances the overall merchant experience.

Tokenization
Cards stored as PAN tokens that have not been used for payments are at risk of expiring without a network token being provisioned. Once expired, schemes block tokenization as a fraud prevention measure — resulting in lost tokens and disrupted shopper experiences.
To address this, we have introduced a **new standalone API endpoint** that allows you to provision a network token for an existing registration, even if no payment has occurred — as long as the card is still valid.
This proactive approach helps secure network tokens in advance and ensures stored credentials remain usable.
**New Endpoint:** `POST /v1/registrations/{uuid}/provisionNetworkToken`
Use this endpoint to trigger network token provisioning for a registered card before it expires.

Tokenization
Merchants using the **new omni token solution** can now benefit from **automatic network token provisioning** when switching to network tokens.
**What’s New**
- **When a merchant enables network token usage**, the system automatically attempts to provision a network token for existing omni tokens during regular payment flows.
- **Provisioning is triggered dynamically** before authorization, with activation handled by the issuer.
- Once available, **the network token is used in future transactions** — no changes required to the merchant’s integration.

Our integration with **Worldpay** now supports Dynamic Merchant Category Code (MCC) and Merchant Country of Origin. These new fields are optional and can be configured in your Merchant Account.
**Dynamic Merchant Category Code (MCC):** If you're a Payment Intermediary merchant, you might need to include the MCC of your sub-Merchant or retailer if it's different from your own. Be sure to check with your Worldpay Relationship Manager to understand when this is required or allowed. They'll also guide you on which MCCs can be used in these cases.
**Merchant Country of Origin:** Some Payment Intermediary merchants may need to add a new data element in their authorization messages and clearing file records. If your sub-merchant is 50% or more owned by a government, you must include the Country of Origin of the owning government. For example, the visa issuing department of the U.S. embassy in the UK will indicate the U.S. as the owning government in all card transaction messages. Here's a list of MCCs for which this is required:

- 9222 (Fines)
- 9311 (Tax payments)
- 9399 (Government services - not elsewhere classified)
- 9402 (Postal services - government only)

- **New Merchant Tokens:** Omni tokens are innovative merchant tokens, central to the Token Vault concept, and are used in both eCommerce and in-store transactions.
- **Server-to-Server Integration:** Ensures robust and secure token management with server-to-server integration.
- **New Payment Types:** Every omni token creation now uses _paymentType=TK_ in the system. When performing a payment using the omni token as a merchant token, the omni token is detokenized from the Token Vault to retrieve the Full Primary Account Number (FPAN), and a new _paymentType=DT_ is created. Fraud screening will continue with the FPAN.
- **Enhanced Visibility:** Omni tokens now have enhanced visibility in the system for both customers and internally (Support teams), covering billing requirements.
- **UI Configuration:** Enablement for the new version is done via UI configuration. Onboarding with the Token Vault is required before turning on the usage of new omni tokens.
This update provides a more secure and efficient way to manage omni tokens, ensuring seamless integration and enhanced fraud protection.
